News—On Saturday, June 26, 2010, the 25th Annual Greater Chicago Food Depository Hunger Walk took place at Soldier Field. As a first time walker, it was an incredible experience to be surrounded with thousands of people gathered together to fight for one cause: to stop hunger in Chicago. Casino Night, Saturday, July 24, 2010

Calendar—Come to San Jose Obrero missions casino night! It will be on July 24th from 12:00pm – 2:00am. You must be 18 and older, the location is Schiller Park Galaxy Banquets, 4663 North Ruby. Four tournaments will be held that night, the first one is at 1:00pm it will be on live TV, and it will cost $395 dollars to enter this tournament, the estimated prize pool is $100,000.

New changes are coming!

New changes are coming!

News—There’s change coming to the shelter on 1856 South Loomis. San Jose Obrero Mission and Yollocalli Arts Reach, are now working together to show support to the homeless in Chicago. They have a program that will have the youth at Yollocalli to paint a mural on the side of the SJOM building wall. The program will last for six weeks, and they hope to be painting by the first week of July. Continue…

About us—Life is composed of challenges. The solutions we find through our challenges continues to mold and define who we are and where we go from here. Sometimes we need others to help us with some of the challenges we face. Some of us rely on close relationships, friends, family or even co-workers for direction and the support needed to overcome challenges. Some of us have no one we can rely on so the task of overcoming some challenges falls directly on our shoulders. That, my friends, is a heavy load. Continue…
